The Kilembe Copper Mine is near Kasese, Uganda. The site was first discovered in 1906. The Kilembe Copper Mine was closed at the time of data entry with no known plans to re-open. Mine operations consist of underground workings. Underground features include 2 shafts and 6 adits. The mining method is horizontal cut and fill with waste rock.
During this period, it produced approximately 16 million tonnes of ore grading 2.0% copper and 0.17% cobalt (non NI 43-101 compliant). The mineralization at and around the Kilembe mine is volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VMS”) in nature.
